All of us want smooth, healthy, younger-looking skin. But with the effects of aging, sun exposure, and other environmental factors, we can slowly lose our youthful glow. At Primary Skin Care & Aesthetics, we offer various treatments for rejuvenating your skin without surgery. Intense Pulsed Light therapy is one of those options.
What is IPL rejuvenation?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a treatment that stimulates healthy skin cells, reduces skin discoloration, and improves wrinkles and skin texture without disrupting the surface of the skin. The treatment is ideal for the face, hands, neck, and chest.
What can IPL rejuvenation treat?
The procedure can treat broken veins and capillaries, eliminate spider veins, minimize redness due to broken capillaries, treat sun-damaged skin and age spots, improve skin texture, decrease wrinkles and fine lines, and treat enlarged pores and acne scarring.
How does IPL work?
IPL treatments utilize a handheld device that emits a broad spectrum of light to the surface of the skin. The light’s wavelengths penetrate into skin tissue and target cells with color. The light energy delivers a pulse of light that breaks up the darker-colored cells, which the body then eliminates.
IPL treatments can be completed in 30 minutes and are typically given in a series of five treatments performed at intervals of at least three weeks. By spreading treatment sessions over this period, there is gradual improvement of the skin while minimizing adverse affects and eliminating any downtime.
What can I expect from the results of my IPL rejuvenation treatment?
Improvements in the skin can be seen 10 days after the first treatment. Enhanced results can be seen after every subsequent treatment. You can expect the results to continue to improve over time as IPL stimulates the growth of natural collagen to rejuvenate the skin.
How do I care for my skin after IPL rejuvenation?
After your IPL treatment, be sure to avoid hot baths, saunas, and hot showers for 24 hours. Anything that generates heat, such as exercise, should also be avoided. Discomfort may be present after treatment, and you may temporarily ease this by applying cold compresses. Furthermore, it is important to avoid prolonged sun exposure for four weeks before and after treatment. Apply sunscreen before going out to protect your skin. You can apply makeup so long as the skin is not broken.
