Laser Removal of Vascular and Pigmented Lesions

Pigmented lesions and veins can ruin the appearance of your skin, yet most people believe there’s not much they can do about them. At Primary Skin Care & Aesthetics, we use lasers to remove these unwanted lesions and improve your skin condition.

What is laser vascular/pigmented lesion removal?

vascularpigmentedToday, lasers are used to address a variety of skin conditions. This treatment is for those with unwanted vessels, pigmented lesions, spider veins, and similar problems.

Dr. Acosta will provide you with the treatment options that best suit your particular situation.

How does laser work in treating vascular and pigmented lesions?

During treatment, the laser light penetrates the outer layer of the skin to reach the blood vessels underneath. Once targeted, these blood vessels tend to soak up the energy of the light beams. The intense heat destroys the blood vessels in the process. The body then removes the damaged tissues in the skin naturally, causing a bruise that will fade over time.

What can you expect during removal of these lesions?

You can expect some discomfort during the procedure. Most of our patients describe the experience as a “zapping” effect when laser light is directed to the skin. This can be likened to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. To promote comfort during treatment, Dr. Acosta applies a cooling spray after every laser impact.

What side effects can I expect?

After your laser vascular/pigmented lesion removal, you may experience certain side effects, such as scarring, blistering, or infection. You may notice some round bruises over the treated area that will last from seven to 10 days. Applying antibiotic ointment will help in the recovery process.
